CHERISHED COVENANT

1. Keeping the Peace – Love & Respect
2. Keeping the Bond – Communication
3. Keeping the Flame – Sexual Intimacy

Session 1:
Keeping the Peace – Love & Respect:

All conflicts starts from a very simple thing: “we don’t get what we want”
The problem:
we all want something, and often what we want is different, thereby creating a conflict
The reality:
we can’t always get what we want
The solution:
we need to accept the reality that often we won’t get what we want, but there are many ways we can learn to make things better

Session 2:
Keeping the Bond: Communication

86 % of divorced couples cite “deficient communication” as the main reason their marriages fail.
Communication:
not just talking and listening but self revelation;
involving the sharing of thoughts, feelings, experiences, values, priorities and judgments while the other listens sympathetically.

Session 3:
Keeping the Flame: Sexual Intimacy

Understand that God created sexuality, marriage and the sexual union between husband and wife
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number…” 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Heaven Declares!
Psa 19: 1 -4
The heavens declare the glory of God;  the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard 4 Their voice [b] goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Mzm 19: 1 -4
Untuk pemimpin biduan. Mazmur Daud. (19-2) Langit menceritakan kemuliaan Allah, dan cakrawala memberitakan pekerjaan tangan-Nya; 2 (19-3) hari meneruskan berita itu kepada hari, dan malam menyampaikan pengetahuan itu kepada malam. 19:3 (19-4) Tidak ada berita dan tidak ada kata, suara mereka tidak terdengar;

CAN WE TRUST THE BiBLE?
BISAKAH KITA MEMPERCAYAI ALKITAB?

2 Tim.3: 14

People aren’t converted by the logical theory; but by the power of God

1. God’s Word - God breathed
     Firman – Ilham Allah

2. God’s Word – Gives Instructions
     Firman – Memberikan instruksi

God knows how to preserve His Words.
Tuhan tahu bagaimana menjaga Firman-Nya.

THEOLOGY – WHO IS GOD?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009
IFGF Arcadia

THEOLOGY – WHO IS GOD?
Teologi – Siapakah Tuhan?

The only thing you can understand about God is
through the things He chose to reveal to you.

“Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures
of wisdom and knowledge.” (Ko.2:2-3)
“yaitu Kristus, sebab di dalam Dialah tersembunyi segala harta
hikmat dan pengetahuan.” (Col.2:2-3, NASB)

We cannot know God outside of Himself

One of the attributes of God: Eternal Life (John 2:16)
Salah satu karakter Allah: Hidup yang Kekal (Yoh.2:16)

To know Him, we cannot only believe He exists; we need to accept Him.

What’s eternal life?
Apakah hidup kekal itu?

This is eternal life,
that they may know You, the only true God
and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Know = intimate knowing!
Mengenal = mengenal dengan intim!

God wants us to know how fulfilling and satisfying to know Him.

There are about 625 names of God in the Bible.
Ada sekitar 625 nama-nama Tuhan di dalam Alkitab.

Why would God want to reveal Himself to us?
So we’ll know Him.
Mengapa TUhan mau menyatakan diriNya kepada kita?
Supaya kita mengenal Dia.

Laptop for Africa Have an old used laptop gathering dust somewhere, but don’t know how or where to get rid of it? Here’s some great news! Donate a laptop and Join the movement to empower many leaders in Uganda, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone!

World Harvest in collaboration with a local church, IFGF GISI Los Angeles, is putting together a Regional Conference from January 6 – January 22, 2010 to help equip the local community and church leaders, mainly in the 4 regions of Africa, which include Kampala (Uganda), Lagos and Warri Delta (Nigeria), and Freetown (Sierra Leone). Equipping the community and church leaders with leadership conference is very necessary, but the greatest need would be in providing good and effective materials for those leaders so they will be equipped and followed up well even after the conference is over. Many of these leaders who have the great responsibility of working in the urban and rural areas of Africa, have received little training, have few, if any, books and receive little ongoing teaching support for their works.

In fact, most of these leaders are lacking a crucial piece of technology that can help them work even more effectively – a laptop!

We realized that there is a need for trained leaders who can bring impact to their communities with vision, integrity, and character. Our goal is to equip 600 leaders through this Regional Conference. It would cost $50-$60 to just print a material for one leader. Therefore, it would definitely save a ton of money if all the materials are put together in a laptop. In addition, the follow up materials may be sent via an internet link that enables them to download from it easily in future.

Therefore, please consider donating your old, unused laptop that is still working properly.  We will reformat every donated laptop and install them with all kinds of materials needed for the Regional Conference as well as software that will be very useful to them. Instead of taking up space in your closet, or even a landfill, your trusty old technology can be given new life while being used to make a difference in the lives of these African leaders.  And it’s a tax deductible gift-in-kind donation!

OLD UNUSED LAPTOP CONDITION:
Sorry, but we’ll only receive old unused Pentium based PC (or equivalent) laptop with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, or Vista operating system (no Macintosh) complete with its charger/battery.

Attributes of God

Sunday, October 4th, 2009
IFGF Arcadia

ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
SIFAT-SIFAT ALLAH

We are created in God’s Image.
Kita diciptakan seturut Gambar Allah.

Gen.1:27-28
Kejadian 1:27-28

God wants to subdue and rule the world through us, who bears the semblance and image of Him

His Compassion – Ps.86:15, Mat.14:14
Belas Kasihan-Nya – Mzm.86:15, Mat.14:14

Reason for Compassion:
Mengapa kita harus mempunyai Belas Kasihan:
Giving alms helps us to have God’s heart and love;
That is the blessing!
Memberikan sedekah membuat kita memiliki hati dan cinta Tuhan;
Itu adalah berkat!

The Real Reward:
Upah yang sebenarnya:

Philippians 3:10
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death. The reward is to know Him.
Filipi 3:10

TRUTH PROJECT: ANTHROPOLOGY

Sunday, September 27th, 2009
IFGF Arcadia

TRUTH PROJECT
ANTHROPOLOGY: WHO IS MAN?
ANTROPOLOGI: SIAPAKAH MANUSIA?

Biblical view of man:
Sudut pandang Alkitab tentang manusia:
Mode 1innocent - God created man in his own image (Gen.1:27)
tidak bersalah – Tuhan menciptakan manusia menurut gambarannya (Kej.1:27)
Mode 2: fallen – death came to all men because all sinned (Rom.5:12, Gen.6:5)
Mode 3a: hell – Rev.20:15, Heb.9:27
neraka – Wahyu 20:15, Ibrani 9:27
Mode 3b: redeemed – Rev.5:9
diselamatkan – Wahyu 5:9
Mode 3c: glorified – if we remain faithful (1 Cor.15:42-44)
dimuliakan – jika kita tetap setia (1 Kor.15:42-44)

The cosmic battle: (Gal.5:16-17)
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

The worldly view of man:
Sudut pandang dunia tentang manusia:
No gods or purposive forces, No ultimate foundation for ethics, No free will, No life after death, No ultimate meaning in life…(Dr. William Provine)

Implications:
Pengertiannya:
“If you think in terms of the basic needs; instincts, at least in the outset, are all ‘good’…careful study of them (instincts) will provide the values we need by which better societies will evolve” “Since the inner nature is good or neutral rather than bad, it is best to bring it out and to encourage it rather than to suppress it. If it is permitted to guide our life, we grow healthy, fruitful and happy” - Abraham Maslow
- Abraham Maslow

The TRUTH:
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live (Rom.8:13)
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry (Col.3:5)

The Truth Project

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
IFGF Arcadia

THE TRUTH PROJECT

Mengapa Yesus datang ke dunia?
Why did Jesus come to this earth?

Yohanes 18:37-38 — Yesus datang untuk menetapkan standard
John 18:37-38 — Jesus comes to set the standard; “I came to testify to the truth.”

Apakah kebenaran itu?
What is truth?

Yesus adalah jalan, kebenaran, dan hidup.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Apa yang Anda percaya menentukan cara Anda bertindak!
What you believe determines how you behave!

The devil is a killer of men; he doesn’t live in the truth because in him there’s no truth.

Senjata iblis yang paling ampuh:
Satan’s greatest weapons:
Relativism:
asumsi bahwa tidak ada kebenaran mutlak.
assumption that there is no such thing as absolute truth.

Subjectivism:
I, the subject, have the right to determine what’s right n wrong without submitting my judgement to any authority outside myself.

Just because you sincere doesn’t make what u believe true.

Just because it makes you happy, it doesn’t make what you believe true.

Tuhan tidak mau Anda senang jika…
God doesn’t want you to be happy if…

when it causes u to do something wrong or unwise (1 pet.1:15)bila sesuatu hanya bergantung pada hal-hal duniawi:
harta yang banyak + lingkungan yang tenang + hal-hal yang sensasional +
hubungan yang baik + penampilan yang sempurna = kebahagiaan
1 Yoh. 2:15-17 berkata kepada kita untuk TIDAK mencintai dunia ini.

when it’s only based on things in this world.
Better possessions + peaceful circumstances + thrilling experiences +
the right relationships + the perfect appearance = happiness
1 john 2:15-17 says to us to NOT love the world.

Discovering n living truth matters more than anything else in life.

Kebenaran bukan hanya ’apa’ tapi ’siapa’ : Yesus (Yoh.14:6)
Truth isn’t just ’what’ but ‘who’ : Jesus (John 14:6)

Langkah pertama dalam mencari kebenaran adalah IMAN.
The first step for the quest of truth is FAITH.

Mengapa kita perlu kebenaran dan iman?
Why we need both truth and faith?

Karena Yesus bukan hanya pemberita kebenaran,
tapi diriNya sendiri adalah Kebeneran.
Because Jesus is not only the proclaimer of truth,
but He Himself is the Truth.
